Earlier this week First Lady Michelle Obama visited the Unity Health Care Center in Washington D.C. Mrs.Obama stressed the importance of community health care centers in the fight against preventable diseases and the need for children to be educated about healthy living. Ultimately, Mrs. O announced the release of $850 million in Recovery Act grants for community health care centers across the country. “Every single health center that applied for a grant will receive at least $200,000,” stated the First Lady.

Howard Kurtz needs to be worried about why the Washington Post is charging people a quarter million dollars to have dranks and vittles with Washington Post reporters instead of maligning Black reporters covering Michelle Obama.
Rachel Swarns of the New York Times and The Washington Post's Robin Givhan were among those herded behind the rope Monday. They and the other main beat reporters -- Newsweek's Allison Samuels, Darlene Superville of the Associated Press and Politico's Nia-Malika Henderson -- have something in common: They ... Read More

Its that time again folks! Pack your bags because Michelle Obama Watch is going international again! YAY! Now for those unfamiliar with how we roll "international style," we basically watch as the world goes ga-ga over our Hugger-in-Chief, First Lady Michelle Obama. We look at beautiful photos and coo at the landmarks in the background. So last month SJP put up a post about the departure of Jackie Norris as First Lady Michelle Obama's Chief of Staff. Norris said she was leaving because she felt too constrained. As a general practice anytime someone leaves a relatively high position in government, I assume there is a much more interesting back story that will eventually come out. Now that the back story is out, I am SO. NOT. SURPRISED :) It appears that Norris bumped heads with ... Read More

First of all, its nice when our audience is respected by the oft dreaded publicists. That's why we love to receive free photos and content from publicists THAT ARE RELEVANT to this blog. So thanks to the publicist who sent this in :)As you know when First Lady Michelle Obama and the weeMichelles ( Sasha and Maila) went on their tour of London, one of the stops was to the set of the final Harry Potter movie. Rupert Grint shared some details ... Read More

If President Barack Obama has a "special friend" in Argentina a la Mark Sanford, i will just fall out. I mean it, I won't be able to console myself because the President and the First Lady have got to be the cutest old married couple on earth right now.
Today, the president and the First Lady and the weeMichelles went to Ft. McNair to pack 15, 000 backpacks for the children of service women. So I was watching the video ... Read More

Oh my goodness. Just last week I told my readers over at WAOD that you haven't seen class warfare until you've seen BLACK CLASS WARFARE.( What Chanequa Campbell Did Wrong at Harvard- How She Can Fix Things Now.)
Yes, my non-Black readers, Black folks in America can be VERY class-conscious. You need to read a book called "Our Kind of People." by Otis Graham. So it is not surprising that the siditty Black residents of Martha's Vineyard would say something like this. Just ... Read More

Hat tip to @FakeMichelle on Twitter. Oh Oh, remember the Black Artists Association being upset that the First Lady didn't pick a Black designer despite the fact that the BAA doesn't actually represent Black designers. Well now some folks in Oakland San Francisco (Thanks Cee Cee) are upset about First Lady Michelle Obama's visit to San Francisco and the Bret Harte Elementary School. It appears that they failed to heed the call for volunteers to build a playground IN THEIR OWN NEIGHBORHOOD ... Read More
