Not only is it self-fulfilling prophesy, it’s sort of circular. They’re basically saying she’s doomed by her very “perfection.”

It’s the typical “strong Black woman” stereotype on steroids. I feel for Michelle in this position and think she’s managed it well so far, but for how long can she when the media is dying to make hay with her?

I’m sick of the Jackie comparisons too. She isn’t the second coming of Jackie, she’s the first coming of her damned amazing self.

Jackie should be so lucky as to be compared to Michelle.

You know, it would be a whole lot more useful if those “journalists” wrote articles about what needs doing around the world to help the disadvantaged instead of banging on about stuff that isn’t true, doesn’t matter and is a waste of time and energy. Report on something useful Politico!

Talk about education, talk about Gaza, talk about volunteer schemes, talk about domestic violence. Give people information they don’t have, examine issues that need light shone on them.

Don’t inspire second rate gossip by being a second rate gossip.

Can people please stop trying to compare First Lady Obama to Jackie O. There is no comparison period!! Two totally different women. Why can’t she just be Michelle Obama in all of her fabulousness….The media can not wait for another opportunity to rip her to shreds over something she says (or does not say….remeber the “Whitey” tape)….

layla- it makes zero sense to compare this kind of preemptive nonsense to sarah palin’s treatment by the press. legitimate questions about your record and qualifications for an office you’re running for is not mistreatment; nor is it at all analogous to being declared a threat to your husband’s administration based on presumed personality traits or events that have yet to take place. of course you can’t entirely separate a political spouse from their partner’s politics (especially one serving as first lady), but criticism ought to be based on something that’s actually taken place. sorry, no dice on sarah palin’s experience during the campaign being anything close to relevant to the discussion of this politico piece.
