How about a fist-bump, hand clap, give me five, topped off by a YOU GO GIRL! Why? Because the new CBS News/New York Times poll finds that Americans are really feeling Michelle Obama and feeling her even more than they have past incoming first ladies.
Now get this, only 7% of the folks survey said that their opinion of Michelle Obama was unfavorable. Can you believe that? Michelle will be entering the White House with a 46% of the population viewing her as favorable. Of course we still got that other 45% to win over who indicated that they either had no opinion or were undecided. And when gender is taken into consideration, even 40% of men and a whopping 52% of women have favorable opinion of our namesake. Considering where “we” started, I’ll take that any day of the week!
So how does this opinion poll compare for former First Ladies? Well here are the stats:
- Laura Bush: 30%
- Hillary Clinton: 38%
- Barbara Bush: 34%
- Nancy Reagan: 28%
I am sure there will be those who will swear on all they hold near and dear that Michelle and Barack in some way manipulated the findings of this recent poll or the results will be blamed on liberal media bias. But, I tell you what. It gives me “great hunks of joy” knowing that the Future First Lady – Mrs. Michelle Obama – will not be entering into the White House Tuesday labeled as an Angry Black Woman.
There is a “Sweet, Sweet Spirit” moving throughout the Country and the World that can and will not be denied. And for that we should all give thanks.

uhh, i am not the one comparing her to jackie o – the press is. her personality and her fashion sense is not jackie o as it shouldn’t be. i don’t even get the pearl wearing. does michelle wear genuine pearls? i’ve seen some chunky costume pieces which are white. anyway… just thought today’s bilious green/yellow sequined dress with rhinestones was a little over the top for before the noon hour. i wish them well. no more comparing to kennedy, lincoln, etc.

Hey. I really like her. Her first job is mother then wife then trend setter. I don’t care if she wears blue jeans and a sweat shirt around the White House. Her dressing is her own business. Just because she happens to be first lady doesn’t mean everyone can tell her what to wear and how to act or how to talk. I admire her as a mother. She’s in love with her husband and she knows that she looks good in her clothes. Her white dress was stunning on her but would have bleached me out since I am white and blond. Forget Jackie o and the others. She looks great just like she is. Michelle Obama.
