Michelle Obama Watch

Sunny, are you serious? Was this questioned asked when Laura Bush was the First Lady? Did Laura go out to the Public schools in DC? Have you been to DC? Apparently not, the demographic is 70% black. White kids are always included. She’s representing all people, did Laura Bush? Give it a break, Michelle is doing great things within the DC community. Maybe you should particpate in uplifting your community and not counting the number of missing white children. Help all children.

Sunny, did you ask the same question when Laura Bush visited a classroom filled with White Kids?….Most likely not! Your problem is that your most likely racist. And fear that Michelle will reach out to minority students and help them achieve for higher things.

You know how the conservatives, many to most of whom are racist fix this problem – of ignoring places like this all black school in Anacostia, DC -and justifying their racist policies – what they do is they poor 99 percent of their AID overseas to peoples many of whom could care less about Americans -especially the most oppressed and the persons of color here in America.

The white conservatives are given a free pass and are relieved of their guilt when they pour billions of dollars overseas for AIDS treatment somewhere else -but neglect domestic issues on their own soil and perpetuate gross human rights abuses of racism on their own soil. Many of the people these conservatives purport to help – also share these same racial views and agendas.

Why r people taking Sunny serious? That was a “set up” statement and Sunny got the responses he/she wanted. Anyone with any sense can see what a huge difference the Obama’s are making in the lives of alot young people who live in that community by opening their door to a house they could only look at through iron bars. Unlike all of the other presidents, who mostly invited heads of states, their own family & friends. The only time u saw kids at the white house was for and Easter egg hunt. Our new first lady is not trying to give the kids a blue egg, but she is dropping some serious knowlege on them..I would take that over an egg anyday.

Sunny it’s interesting that your take away from the speeches MO gave was to feign concern about what color the kids are. All of our children need to be encouraged to reach their potential regardless of their color. As others have stated – I doubt you ever question situations when the beneficiaries are all white.

I don’t ever recall the Bush Administration showing any concern about the plight of D.C. students-which when one reads into that translates to black, latino, or poor white kids. The President and First Lady have a vested interest in their surrounding D.C. community to not only be an example but to instill in these children a sense of pride and hope because you know those kids already have low expectation in the first place. My mother is a public school teacher and has been for over 33 years and she continues to push and EXPECT great things from her students-of all colors. These children are the future and that is the message that she’s conveying to them and just because a couple of white kids are missing from the picture shouldn’t undercut what the First Lady is trying to achieve. So Sunny save the criticism. I’ve said my piece, I’m done. Peace!

Its so sad that Racism is so inherent even today. .. I thought we had moved beyond that. When will see beyond this master narrative and construct a narrative of equality?

I truely understand what Mrs. Michelle Obama means when she says that people made fun of her saying that she talked like a “white girl.” I get that all the time, now that I am in high school, I just simply ignore it because that’s how I was raised and I don’t see a problem with the way I talk. If people cant except me for who I am, then they can be gone.
