Michelle Obama Watch

In March of every year, we celebrate and recognize women who have help shape the America in which we live. Women such as Sojourner Truth, Susan B. Anthony, Eleanor Roosevelt, Rosa Parks and hundreds of thousands more dedicated their lives to making this a better place for all of us. Yet, we often forget about the those who gave the ultimate price in defense of our freedom and our country. But, First Lady Michelle Obama has not forgotten and by her very actions today, she is living up to her promise to bring focus to military families.

Today, Mrs. Obama visited the Arlington National Cemetery’s Women in Military Service for America Memorial in honor of Women’s History Month. During her remarks, the First Lady highlighted achievements of military women throughout the country’s history.

She said the burden of military service falls not just on the person in uniform, but on the service member’s entire family. According to Mrs. Obama, “military families have done their duty and that the country they serve must do its part”.

As many of you may recall, the First Lady’s interest in military families were evident during the presidential campaign. Often stopping near military bases to meet with spouses of those in uniform, Mrs. Obama continues to advocate for the families on the   wife often stopped near military bases to meet with spouses of those in uniform. As an advocate for families on the home front , she has promoted care packages for those serving in the military.
