Now it appears that fashion designer, Arnold Scaasi has an issue with the First Lady’s fashion choices. As reported by WWD.com in an article called “Arnold Scaasi’s Front Row View on First Ladies”, Mr. Scassi feels something is “amiss.”
Read the quote by Scaasi provided on WWD.com,
“She’s great-looking, she has a great personality and she’s obviously very bright,” he stressed. “But…” Scaasi finished the dreaded qualifier with, “something is amiss.”
In this article, Scaasi goes on to comment about Mrs. Obama’s ensemble when she met the Queen.
“I think it is about looking right in the right situation,” Scaasi continued, “And certainly the coat-sweater with the Queen of England was absolutely wrong,” he noted of Obama’s now-famous black cardigan-and-dress ensemble. “[A jacket] would not take away from [Obama’s] good looks or from her personality; it would just photograph better, and it would be more proper for meeting the Queen.”
Everyone has an opinion of what they feel is proper for Michelle Obama’s fashion choices. Hasn’t she made it clear that she will decide what she wears, not the fashion police? Mr. Scaasi, I don’t know if you are attempting to gain exposure by jumping on the bandwagon of folks bashing Mrs. Obama’s fashion choices, or if this is an eccentric attempt to throw in your hat as an option in Mrs. Obama’s Fashion Rolodex, by offering unsolicited fashion advice intertwined with compliments? I AGREE WITH MR SCAASI, NOT FORMAL ENOUGH FOR THE QUEEN, AND I’M A BIG FAN OF MRS. OBAMA AND EVERYTHING SHE WEARS!

Arnold Scaasi doesn’t know anything about fashion in england and the English royals. The sweater Michelle Obama was wearing when she was photographed with the Queen was perfect. She had a very English look, and it was the kind of outfit the Queen used to wear when she was younger.

The problem that continues to arise is the First Lady’s attire. What is wrong with how she dresses? It is conservative and tasteful. I believe as an African-American woman that Michelle places emphasis on more important issues; rather than fashion. In my opinion, she is a simple; yet traditional woman. She has her own style. Clothing does not make the woman. This is what makes her different. There are far more important issues going on in the world today that has nothing to do with clothing. Fashion is not on the agenda nor a priority. It definitely will not solve the issues of the United States.

How silly. Is there a book or brochure somewhere entitled “What to Wear to Meet the queen” ? And if so, who wrote it? Has Mrs. Obama worn any Scaasi designs? Maybe that is his real complaint.

oh my God did you see those dresses on the huffington post?
those dresses are very frumpy
they look like bed spreads
they need to let Michelle be Michelle
and maybe if they quit knocking her
she might give em a holla

When was the last time that anyone has worn anything that Arnold Scassi had designed????????? I thought so. He may have been responsible for some of dresses of former first ladies, Barbara Bush, Hillary Clinton and Laura Bush, other than that he’s been on the socialite circle looking a bit over tanned and overdosing on the botox lately. It appears that the old guard designers have no respect for the new designers. It’s not their fault that today they are the ones “in” and they are now “out.” What stylish trends did he have anyone clamoring to emulate or want when he designed for these women? Absolutely none, in fact he had them bashed by the fashion community quite frequently when they wore his designs because he was still stuck in a 1950‘s time warp.

I think the First lady looked great in all her G-20 outfits except the one that she wore to meet the Queen. Her hair do on that day was not flattering either. I would agree with Scassi that she could have done better on that.

I appreciate the fact that the First Lady is her own woman. She doesn’t conform to the thoughts or opinions of random people. She is a trailblazer and for that she deserves respect. If more people would stop allowing the thoughts and opinions of others rule the way they think, dress, and live maybe there would be more people with higher self-esteem and confidence! Great article!

Real talk
Who is the queen but a figure head with no real power? Michelle is the queen to the most powerful country and man in the world. The queen should be scurrying to find an outfit to meet Michelle. Michelle shouldn’t have to bow to her. She is not one of her royal subjects and the last time I checked America is no longer a British colony. So, it seems to me that they are on eual footing, aside from the age thing. And, another thing, I am sick of these tangy gay men telling real women how to be a woman. God already programmed us to do that.

Yes, i am totaaly agree and share the view of Mr Scassi . Mrs Obama need a glamour touch. She will be more elegant , class if she accept someone advice. All right, she is a strong woman, educated, atomic that’s fine, i will not argue to that point and let me say that i do admire Mrs O , its the one of the reason i read everything about her. A lady like her should not ,yes ( and i really mean it) SHOULD NOT wear cartigan while meeting queen though it was not a formal visit ( her first visit indeed).
unfortunatly, i beleive she will not listen while these critics are positive!

OH MY GOODNESS, REAL TALK, Hi -five on that!!!!
Women are the examples for gay men, yet they act as if we are emulating them and need them to make it. Lol!!! Also, Mrs. Obama is one of the youngest First Ladies to be in the White House, she is not going to be on the same fashion plane as those old women before her, including Mrs. Clinton. And fashion trends have changed since Mrs. Kennedy.
Oh yes, and Ginger, you need to proofread your work before you post!!! And if you did, don’t admit it!!!

I have just now decided that if I ever have the chance to meet Her Majesty, the Queen of England, that I will definitely wear a cardigan.
First Lady, Michelle Obama, represented the United States well and clearly earned the respect and admiration of the Queen, if not her increasingly hysterical critics.

We are commenting on the first ladies outfit while visiting with the queen. If she wasnt formal enough, then the Queen wasnt formal enough either with her little pink so called suit. I know she is the Queen, but she didnt look too hot herself.

“The Queen” – Scassi should know, Michelle is not a British subject, just as “Real Talk” said…why does he think he can “dress” Mrs. Obama? What is this dress code he has implanted in his brain that Mrs. Obama should understand? True, there are times when I don’t particularly like what Ms. O is wearing, but I don’t think it matters one bit because she is always up to something interesting and/or fun. She’s a happy woman, and I like that about her.
Which one of us looks good every single day of our lives? How many of us could keep her schedule and look perfectly turned out every time? Anyone who does has a stylist, and Mrs. O. probably doesn’t want to hire yet another employee in the WH. She’s a mom, too, so comfort’s important to her, too. She looks great when she goes on dates with Mr. Obama-he loves her look, so who cares what some fashion designer has to say?
