I saw this over at Sandra Rose and I though that it has to be a  typo. Maybe there was something lost in translation:

“Mrs. Obama is not a great beauty,” Iman tells Parade.com. “But she is so interesting looking and so bright. That will always take you farther.”

“When you’re a great beauty, it’s always downhill for you,” she explains. “If you’re someone like Mrs. Obama, you just get better with age.” Sandra Rose via OK Magazine via PARADE

And now let’s bow our heads for a moment of prayer, meditation, and or chanting. …

Dad gummit Iman! Not YOUUUUU! <floridaevans> DAY-UM DAY-UM Day-UM </floridaevans>”I THINK I understand what Iman was TRYING to say, but as compliments go, this is an EPIC FAIL. Now readers settle down. Back your way out of this statement. Iman is saying you can either be beautiful OR smart. Iman I’m assuming believes she is beautiful therefore she cannot be… smart. Now we all know that’s not true because anyone who can launch a successful cosmetics line that ends up in JCPennys ain’t stupid. I’m predicting a retraction, clarification, “I was taken out of context,” “you see what I meant was…” any minute now.

  1. Dear First Lady:
I hope you received my pre- edition book which is for children (and Parents)
Titled ” LOVE AND JOY ”
I mailed it twice and I wish you read it and give some comments

  2. Yes, I think I know what she was TRYING to say, but she failed so miserably that she is now on my list. Iman is gonna have to work hard to get off of it too. As long as this chick has been in the public eye, she really should be way more adept with language that THAT!

  3. I love her. She doesn’t act arrogant. Dresses like others but with taste and class. She is not into EXPENSIVE DESIGNERS OUTFIT in such a bad economy. She is extremely inteligent, beautiful and kind while acting like a normal person. I adore her for her charachter and admire her family.

  4. I wish we had Obama’s family 8 years ago.

  5. We never had a first lady such as Michelle Obama.
She is unique. She is a loving mother, loving wife and a big role model for all women.
She has the class but is humble. She is highly educated and intelligent and use it for making a change in our country.
The best first lady, the best mom and the best wife.
    Who can not love her?

  6. Patty

Classless! Our First Lady is Beautiful!

  7. @seeshush

Gina – Not sure what there is to understand about Iman’s INSANE statement… it’s simply FACTUALLY DEAD WRONG — FALSE STATEMENT!

Don’t need to dump on anyone to stand by Mrs. O, so will simply restrict my comments to what motivation she may have had for making a neurotic statement — uh…. maybe seeking publicity/chasing controversy to whip up some retail sales (Just yesterday 5/14, I read that a new report shows sharpest drop in retail sales in 54 years or so). If she needed the publicity, Iman’s statement was a major business blunder which is going to really HURT her business model if anyone’s paying attention…. and here’s why…

1st. is she aware how many of her loyal consumers are in the demographic that is absolutely head over heals in love with Mrs. O?? Regardless of what she thinks, it was a very silly and extremely costly poor business judgment!!

How can you lead in the business of peddling impressions of skin deep “beauty” to people of color and create a hierarchy of what that is? I would presume her marketing would have to say that everyone is beautiful…. if not, whom would she qualify so the rest of us simply won’t bother buying her products in trying “to be” beautiful as she has declared her fictional standard is not for everyone! I can hardly believe that this even needs to be said. If her statement was not too silly to be dangerous, I would not have even bothered.

Recall– she published a book to promote the launch of her business presumably to explain and assert that THERE IS NO single standard for beauty (I believe this was explicitly stated and I barely took a glance through the pages at a book store when it was first being promoted — did not go looking for it)……… or was her book simply focused on shades of skin (which would be really sick and we will not make this attribution to her) — but in this context, what the heck was Mrs. Iman speaking of????? Is she out of her mind to presume to make a public statement on what may be a matter of personal preference — in which case it was ill conceived and irresponsible knowing the gravitas of the subject and the popularity of of Mrs. O.

Is she now aware that many from her (our part of the world as I’m also East African) have for long wondered what in the world people see in her — to be sure I’m not among them, but she MUST know this. I’m sure she does. Even her preferences, if this is what she’s expressing, cannot be unrelated to her own features (which I presume she believes qualify as “beautiful” whatever she means by the word – and in my own view indeed she does) which then means her definition of beauty is somehow culturally constructed and it is within that construction that she is judged as not standing out at all! And yet, this would still fail to explain her statement b/c we don’t need to know/nor do we care to know her private thoughts/impression (does Iman like eating turkey or tuna for lunch?? who cares? and here she’s speaking about our nation’s First Lady and not her lunch or some such trivia). She has to assume responsibility for the privilege she enjoys as a celebrity — by that I mean, to watch what she says in public statements even when the statement is completely false as it is in this case, and so ridiculous as to simply indicate a maladjusted state of mind — allbeit, I’m sure temporary.

Michelle is among the most stunning women with a smile that can melt any heart that beats, eyes that beam and alltogether beauty that stands w/out make-up as our beautiful First Lady has done on occasion showing by doing and reminding us that we can play with make-up but that it’s entirely optional and does not define us. Moreover, she just does not have anything that benefits from embellishment. I am willing to bet that Iman never makes important public appearances without tons of make-up.

Perhaps, Ms. O’s implicit suggestion that we can exude exquisite beauty without pounds of make-up and false lashes/etc. posed a threat to Iman’s presumed empire and peddling of play things that she would hope would be viewed as a necessity by every woman of color………..well Mrs. Iman, if you have not noticed, Mr. and Mrs. O have brought us to the dawn of what is truly A NEW DAY! I keep learning of this more and more every day — and here you have helped illustrate the point.

My guess is Iman’s statement may have been inadvertently perhaps (or so I hope) inspired by a probable slide in market share (probably largely due to economy). However, not sufficient cause to flip out and show how undone she can be in public. We love you too Iman — but you cannot believe that you alone hold our attention.

Mrs. O has trumped nearly everyone for our affection –for her physical beauty, her stellar character, her brilliance, implicitly we know she must be extremely disciplined, organized and focused on a level we all wish we were. She inspires confidence and makes it exciting to get up in the morning knowing that what we aspire to is achievable (and I don’t mean the First Lady bit) but the much larger part of her story which is the fullness of her life, the completeness of her person! She is all that you can be!!

Mrs. O, I and many citizens of many nations across the globe hold you in our thoughts and thank you and pray for you for inspiring us with your light. To say we hold you in very high regard simply falls short….

Iman, thx for giving me a chance to express what are heartfelt and carefully considered thoughts and feelings on this exemplary woman’s extraordinary light. Mr. Barack (indeed blessed is right) Obama and their children are extremely fortunate. We are also lucky to see her light cast on all of us living at this time. Few will disagree with anything I’ve said. It’s simply a fact! She is flawless!

  8. SweetT

Now I stan for Michelle like none other. I love my First Lady to pieces and will defend her tooth and nail. But in this case, I’m thinking… Even if Iman meant exactly what she said, isn’t she entitled to her opinion? I, for one, think MO is one of the most beautiful women in the public eye right now. But as they say, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. At least Iman wasn’t disrespectful. Am I trying too hard to look on the bright side? Lol.

  9. Nia

    So disappointed in Iman.

First of all, Michelle didn’t sign up for the runway. She has a college degree, a law degree, chose to practice law for a minute, became an administrator in a hospital, etc. She is a mom to two girls, a President’s wife and First Lady of the United States!

What does any of this have to do with her looks? Obviously, she has to be very conscious of the way she looks and is presented because the media would be all over that. BW, why do we always have to give one another such a hard time!

I think it’s very tacky and classless, with all of Michelle’s accomplishments, for Iman to point out what she’s not (“…a great beauty) or make any statements about her looks that can be taken out of context!

Black women who have the mic should be careful about letting the media back us into a corner to where we’re commenting on the looks of successful black women. Have we ever heard about famous white models commenting on Barbara Bush’s or Hillary’s looks? NO!

Iman just seems to have some issues with African American women, since she’s been told all of her career by white and black folks that she doesn’t look “fully” black american, I remembering reading those news stories about how people put her on this pedestal and she reveled in being able to separate herself from AA women.

Can’t handle it now that Michelle is the talk of the town, so here comes Iman to try to bring her down a peg. Women are already sensitive about the way we look and I thought that Iman’s comments where unnecessary. It’s a shame that we always have cutting/backhanded words for each other but won’t dare comment on the average looks of famous white women or non black women. The media doesn’t even have to throw stones because they can always find black people who will do it for them.

  10. Well, I see what Iman means, one must remember she is coming from the fashion industry, where one tends to take the gloves off when speaking about appearances. But I did wince, because I could never say MO was not a great beauty.

MO might not be right for couture runway, neither is anyone else under 5,10″, and perhaps that’s more where Iman is coming from. But I beg to differ with the supermodel: In my mind, Michelle Obama is a great beauty, and I am not just talking about her inner wonderfulness. I think she’s a fit fox!

  11. cneighbour

Relax people, Everyone is getting too sensitive about every word that is said. Not everyone says the same thing the same way.

  12. I don’t think it is proper for a (former) supermodel to publicly comment on how unattractive the first lady is. SMH. Was the comment really necessary?

Sidebar: I should add Iman to my SAYAD list just for this comment.

  13. Just dropped by to read MOW’s comments on this interview, before writing myself for Michelle-Style. I’m sure Iman meant well, but for me the comment falls into the larger category — not of “kids say the darndest things” — but “women say the darndest things . . . about each other.”

I think the majority of us are a little speechless here. Glad to read you’re calling for a moment of meditation, and your MOW headline leaves no doubt about your own reaction.

I ask myself: “if Fox News made the same comment in an editorial or style piece”, then what? I’m no friend of Fox; you know that. But monitoring the news for fairness and accuracy is indeed tricky biz. xoxo Anne

  14. leea

wow I can see what she was TRYING to say but she most definitely messed it up. I think she was saying Mrs. O is not the super model beauty but she is a more natural beauty, this is even something President O said in his book.

and yes I can see her back peddling now.

  15. dee

it was not said in the most diplomatic way but its true. i love mrs O and I do think that she is looking better with age. the style, great body and how nice she is all complement her beauty. all and all i love michelle.

  16. pepper

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and I take Michelle over her any day. You would think that a black woman who talks all the time about the lack of black models in the fashion industry, would be happy that another black woman is getting this type of attention, but I guess she believes she is the only one that can be on top.

  17. The interviewer’s question to Iman and Iman’s response is inappropriate. More similiar to First Lady Michelle Obama, Princess Diana and Jackie Kennedy are heralded as beautiful the world over. While they possess outer and inner beauty, their outer beauty is not akin to to that of the Supermodel profession or fasion industry standards . . . well because they are Stateswomen whose physical attractiveness is more relatable and accessible to the majority of women and girls the world over – so is there inner beauty . . . which simply does not appear to be the case with Iman. I would like for a reporter or two to ask Iman if s/he thinks that Princess Diana, Jackie Kennedy, the First Lady of Somalia or some other country is a “great beauty” and here what she has to say. Iman ought to know better than to abuse such a high profile position to nurture her wounds. Why didn’t she direct her remarks towards the fasion industry who is not as inclusive of diverse types of beauty-be it “accessible or exotic”-as it should be? All I know is that I am not purchasing anything from Iman from hence forth.

  18. Laura

OMG! Is she serious? I’m sorry but look at Iman, she has aged alot of lately and I hope her beauty is skin deep because I never thought she was beautiful, she just had that starvational pencil body once upon a time. Michelle Obama is beautiful inside and out and to be in her 40s who has that fresh glossy skin and body including the compassion for others I think Iman comment was wasteful. The backlash is heading her way and I hope it doesn’t affect her products.

  19. Michelle

No doubt, this was a bad choice of words. Yet an opinion held by many in the country. But Iman wasn’t saying you can be either beautiful or smart. Iman happens to speak seven languages, is the daughter of a diplomat and studied political science in college, which is where she was discovered as a model. She’s launched her own cosmetics company, hosts Project Runway in Canada and is a global ambassador for Keep A Child Alive. She had plastic surgery after being in a horrible car accident, to reconstruct her face many decades ago. And most important, she has supported the candidacy of Barack Obama since day one, hosting fundraising parties all over New York City. Not sure what she was thinking to say this to a reporter, but no one can deny that Michelle IS getting better looking with time. She has transformed into a more beautiful woman since we were first introduced to her several years ago.

  20. Kecia R. Sanders

Poor Iman, you really are crazy. Misery loves company.

  21. SjP

She can’t help it…remember “beauty is in the eye of the beholder” and she’s married to David Bowie.

  22. KIMYA

Why is it so hard for some AFRICAN AMERICAN’S to stop being caught up in disrespecting the First Family? here we go again, when will it end! you would think that if you are African American there is no way you would say anything that would insult the Obama’s, but, oh no, our people have to jump on the band wagon without thinking, I could expect this from Iman, if Michelle is not wearing big weave’s and make up galore she is not considered Beautiful, can anyone imagine all the stuff Iman has to put on her face to be considered beautiful by American standard!

  23. I’m going to give her the benefit of the doubt.

Yes, that’s what I’m going to do.

She just bungled her words…that’s all.

  24. monica

I am offended and appalled by Iman’s recent ignorant comment about First Lady Michelle Obama. Iman of all people should understand the magnitude of the position First Lady Obama is in – a Black woman who is breaking new ground – and image is very important. Michelle Obama is First Lady of the USA and that is not an easy position.

Furthermore, First Lady Obama is a reflection of EVERY woman and particularly Black woman on planet earth. We, particularly other Black women, need to support her. In the 1970s, Iman herself was thrust into a similar position when she broke through barriers as a model. In the Parade magazine article, she talked about representing a “whole race” and members of that race saying that she did not represent “our ideals of beauty” and here it is she totally disrespects First Lady Michelle Obama and other Black women and YOUNG BLACK GIRLS who look like her by saying that the First Lady is not beautiful.

Iman has two daughters and one is full Black. Is she saying that her own daughter and all the other beautiful Black women all over the world and the continent of Africa – supermodels Oluchi, Naomi Campbell, and Alek Wek included – who do not have “European” features like hers are not beautiful? If ignorant folks thought Iman didn’t represent the “ideals of beauty,” you would think Iman would be sensitive to such ignorance and not perpetuate it with stupid comments as these.

I never heard Iman make any personal comments publicly about former First Lady Laura Bush or any other First Lady around the globe, but she thinks it is okay to disrespect First Lady Obama. In Somalia, if she said anything disgraceful publicly about the Somali heads of state, she would be stoned….that’s what they do to pyschological bastards over there who denounce their people. So if Iman can’t say anything positive publicly, don’t say anything at all. Keep your ignorant comments about First Lady Michelle Obama or any other Black woman to yourself. Little Black girls and Black boys are listening and watching.

It is unacceptable and we are not going to tolerate it. Iman is so white-washed. And there isn’t anything beautiful about that.

  25. BAHIJAH

Iman is Somalian and I’m hoping something got lost in translation, but she’s married to an Englishman so she should understand English perfectly well. Also having a little experience in journalism maybe the writer asked her a different question and this is what they wanted to run. Iman normally is a respectable person but on this one she should have chosen her words better. Iman coming from the fashion industry should understand their backward perspective on what beauty is and isn’t-and Iman being one of the first black supermodels and Michelle being the first black First Lady, Iman should offer words of encouragement instead of providing more fodder for the media to salivate over.

  26. kayldoubleu

All The Above!!! (Tacky, Classless, and Just plain Dumb.) Jealousy come from the most obscure places. Iman had her days in the spot light and there over!!!

  27. Loving La Flotus

I don’t think that I can give her the benefit of the doubt. And I wrestled with this one, ladies (and gents).

All I can say is that I will refrain from calling Iman names, as she has done a lot that we can all take pride in, but it will be a long, long while before I buy some Iman cosmetics. And I do pick them up from time to time in an effort to support a Black woman.

If she came a groveling, then maybe we can talk.

  28. Robin

To Iman Ms.1st Lady Michelle is a Beauty to Behold Don’t Hate Celebrate.

  29. Dana

Poor choice of words that reflect poorly on Iman, not Michelle.

    Michelle will be alright though.

I truly hope Iman takes the opportunity to clarify what might have been misconstrued by the journalist so that this doesn’t grow into a public relations issue for Iman Cosmetics.

  30. nia

I totally think what Iman should have been kept to herself. Whether it was taken out of context or not, she should not have taken it there. First Lady Michelle is classy, smart and pretty. She doesn’t need a pound of weave to do it either ( no hateraide, lol). Our President loves his wife and that’s evident and clearly visible each time they are in the public.

Now… talking about Iman’s husband David Bowie, with those piano teeth… umm I wouldn’t talk about peeps being “interesting looking” ya dig?….

  31. claretha

I never thought Iman was beautiful. First Lady Michelle Obama has inside and outside beauty. Much love to Michelle Obama.

  32. Charlotte Vale

I will undoubtedly be tarred and feather for agreeing with Iman and daring to say (free speech notwithstanding) that Michelle Obama is not beautiful in the conventional sense. She is stunning and has tremendous presence, but she does not have a beautiful face like the young Elizabeth Taylor or Halle Berry is beautiful. I will also say that is totally irrelevant to our appreciation and admiration of the First Lady. Iman’s unfortunate statement, as someone already pointed out, is based on a superficial perception having to do with Hollywood or fashion. In that context, I agree with her, even though it is a ridiculous standard. Let the stoning begin….

  33. AJ

    As a guy,

Iman is absolutely right…Michelle O, is not your typical beauty, now as far as first ladys go, the only one she kinda pales in comparison too is Jackie O but thats HUGE. Michelle O. is not a woman that would turn a head based on her looks. She is charming and smart, but not beautiful! All of her traits make her beautiful but NO she is not pretty (in a strictly superficial way) you ladies need to get off the high horse. Michelle is bucked toothed with nappy hair, and a horrible makeup person (well initially). While she is brilliant and very accomplished and she makes me proud to be a black man, she wouldn’t get it up for me…PERIOD…

  34. BAHIJAH

Uh Charlotte, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. What people are saying is that historically black beauty was either under appreciated or ignored and Iman should know this-her remarks come with an air of irony. Beauty is not exterior to me, I find Michelle beautiful by how she conducts herself and her ability to inspire women of all colors. Black woman nowadays don’t have many role models outside of our communities as some have reduced us to video hoes and sassy baby mommas. Michelle doesn’t flaunt her body and doesn’t resemble these “Hollywood types” you feel so confident in mentioning. I’m sure Elizabeth and Halle both thanked their respective makeup artists. The most beautiful thing about our First Lady is that she knows who she is and all of our bickering isn’t going to matter to her. She comfortable in her skin-something we should all aspire to and the most important people in the world to her thinks she’s the most beautiful person in the world-her family and friends. This isn’t a stone by the way we all live in glass houses!

  35. sg

i said it before and i’ll say it again, the whole world seems to be turne on its head with jealousy over the absolute ease in which The Obamas are running this mess of a country. … and Iman i could care less abouty your vacuous opinion.

  36. WhateverPeople

How dare Iman say something negative about Michelle Obama. Because Michelle Obama is Messiah of Black women, Iman shouldn’t say anything negative about Michelle Obama or else she is a hater or jealous. Us black women have to stick together. No criticizing each other, just kiss each other’s behinds because we share the same black skin. If one does not laugh at Michelle’s jokes, worship Michelle as the black goddess she is, bask in the greatness that is Michelle Obama, this is grounds for exclusion out of the Black women cult. If one does not find Michelle Obama breathtakingly gorgeous, this is grounds for exclusion of our Black Women cult

You people need to get real. Not everyone, including not every black woman, is on Michelle Obama’s behind, kissing it, rubbing their face into it, worshiping it. If someone thinks that she is not a great beauty, which is perfectly fine and Obama was even admitted this on several occasions. That is Iman’s opinion. That opinion makes them no less a “loyal black woman” than anything else.

  37. Storm

@ A.J -So Obama’s nappy hair is unattractive, huh? You as a black guy (as if i really believe that) likely have nappy hair. What is it called when you can’t find beauty in your own features? I believe its called self-hate.

  38. WHATEVERPEOPLE……. Iman has a right to say what she want. I don’t understand her comment, because no one said that Mrs. Obama was a great beauty. Neither is Iman. It is not about being a great beauty, there is more to a person than what’s on the outside. That is our problem, always judging someone by what they look like. I think Michelle is a beauty because of the way she treats people, she seem to be a nice, down to earth friendly person. And she is a nice looking woman. I worshipped no one but my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. I’m going to be honest, after all these years, it is so nice to see a black family in the White House. Finally a black President and a black First Lady, with two lovely kids. If that is worshipping Michelle Obama, then so be it. I am no more on Michelle’s behind than white women, and some blacks were on Laura Bush, or Hillary, Nancy, Barbara’s behind. I like our First Lady, and I don’t care who knows it.

  39. AJ……..you probably won’t do a darn thing for her either. Why is Halley Berry so beautiful, because she is light skin? The old story about the light skin and the dark skin negro. Is that why alot of black men gets alittle success and they run to a white woman or light skin one. Let’s not talk about looks, because Iman’s husband isn’t a handsome man.

  40. CTB

A.J’s comments were quite insulting to our fabulous first lady. We should be careful as a people who have struggled to ‘get here’, to 2009, where our president is black, of what we say about the First Family! Not just black, but the most popular president in our lifetime, smart, charismatic, fine as hell and confident.
Our president who is well loved and respected all over the world has chosen Michelle as his wife. Yes Mr. AJ, she ‘turned the president’s head’ and got his attention. Thank God all men (and women) are not as stupid and superficial as you are Mr. AJ.
Some of the so called pretty women (by AJ’s standard I am sure), like Halle Berry and Vanessa Williams are twice divorced, took physical abuse from men, and in Halle’s case (with all due respect) is another baby mama statistic.
    Mrs. Obama is BEAUTIFUL…….PERIOD!!!!

  41. This AJ dude can go stright to hell, Mrs. Obama is a lovely woman and if I thought I had a chance I would make a move. I am really disappointed in Iman, but she can think what she want and so can I. I am so proud of our President, and just as proud of our wonderful beautiful First Lady. Does it sound like I have a crush on the First Lady? Mr. President you don’t have anything to worry about. Ha! Ha! Ha!

Iman…has a lot of nerve talking about somebody’s looks. She’s not a beauty either, somebody just decided to take her malnourished a#s out of africa and put some clothes on her behind. Go back to Africa B*CTH, talking sh*t!

The statement Iman made was distasteful and extremely untrue. Oh, Michelle is definitely beautiful! She is part two of the change America needs. Iman must be part blind or is it envy?

I did some researching on Iman… and its quite interesting what her older daughter had to say about Mommy Dearest when she was younger.. She makes claims that she called her a “fat whale” and pretty much made her a basket case. Her first husband even has some things to say about her.

This is why her makeup line is in Walgreens..lol! they need to put in the Dollar Tree, it might do better.

  45. What?!

Michelle looks better than Iman, so if Michelle is not a great beauty what does that make her?

I can’t say that I’m surprised at Iman’s Comments. Iman always struck me as a person who seemed threatened by any successful African American women (Re: Oprah/Tyra/Kimora). Maybe it’s because she wasn’t raised to see females as equals to males, or maybe it’s because she comes from a culture that tries to be anything other than black (Ethiopia/Somali). Either way her statement proves how vapid, classless, uneducated, and divisive she really is. Lets look at the facts: She old and still creepin on the come up, Her cosmetics line is complete garbage (which she stole from a so-so makeup artist), and she’s married to a gay man.

P.S. or maybe she knows that men such as the President look at her (and women like her) as dispensable due to their lack of actually accomplishments.

aj, it is not the duty of Mrs. Obama to ‘get it up for you.’ You took time to come to this site and explain why Michelle is unattractive (to you). Do you take time to refute the media and the public who say that cate blanchett, drew barrymore, sarah jessica parker, felicity huffman and others of that sort are beautiful? Or are you only annoyed enough to respond when compliments and accolades are accorded to a black lady? Also, you say her hair is nappy. What is wrong with nappy hair? Nothing. If you really are black, then you, a parent or a grandparent have or had nappy hair. By the way, some of your fellow detractors criticize her for having straight and swingy hair. You should be talking to them. You also say her teeth are buck. They are not. But I guess you had to say something to support your failure to find her attractive. I suspect the real turn-off for you is her (lovely) dark skin.

Iman shows the crabs in a barrel attitude-

It’s a black thing. I wouldn’t understand. Tacky – yes!! Classless – yes!! Disrespectful of the office that her husband holds and her part in it – yes!!
Dumb – NO!!! Deliberately disrespectful. After all, the United States is a downright mean country. Right, Michelle??

I want to share with you all that on May 18 when Michelle Obama came to NY for the Ribbon cutting ceremony at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Iman was in attendance… Mrs. O. showed her class when she went down the receiving line after her speech and made personal contact with everyone in the front one. Of course the press was avidly watching to see what would happen when she got to Iman… Iman as usual offered her hand for the standard cold handshake… did Michelle not one-up her… instead of taking her hand, she instead. Gave her a hug!!! …and yes, Iman’s reaction was one that said she was taken aback. WHAT CLASS!

I am glad to be a contemporary of Michelle Obama, she was born in 1964 as I was, according to my heritage on the Chinese Calendar we are born in the year of the Dragon; a symbol of character, strength and wisdom. She never stoops, negativity isn’t bordering her horizon, she taught Iman and everyone in attendance at the ribbon cutting that she is worthy of her blessings in life.

And she is? this is just one black woman sh*ting on another black woman. Classic pretty? by whose terms?

    I’ll say this..
Mrs. Obama didn’t go into the world professional modeling. She entered into higher academia, and succeeded. Now, let’s “pit” her brain/intellegence against the has been model. (“beauty” fades stupid is forever)

Black women walking around with all those ugly wigs on, dying their hair blond, trying to live up to the european standard of “beauty” is disgusting.
No first lady in the history of the United States has been judged more harshly than Michelle O. concerning her looks and especially, her body build. I know why, but will leave it alone. On top of that, you get another black woman sick enough to jump on the band wagon.

Michelle Obama is married to the the most powertful man on earth (so much for beauty) WHO is the faded “beauty” married to? You rarely see them photographed together.

I support Michelle Obama. She is a beautiful woman and an inspiration. I focus my 8 yr. daughter toward her in favor of Iman.
