President Obama followed through on yet another promise to our first lady. They had a romantic dinner in Paris at the chic La Fontaine de Mars. Helene Fouquet, of Bloomberg.com, gives us an idea on the exciting feast that could have graced the palettes of the first couple. That being warm duck foie gras salad with pears and decadent crème brulee.
The presidential couple, without their two daughters, arrived for supper yesterday at La Fontaine de Mars, a traditional French bistro with red-and-white checked tablecloths that is close to the Eiffel Tower. The restaurant, which opened in 1908, has warm duck foie gras salad with pears for 26 euros ($36) and crème brulee dessert for 9 euros ($13).
Even those with no connection to the French Bistro were excited that the Obama’s dined near their location:
“We started to believe yesterday already that he would come there,” said Lotfi Kafi, the 45-year-old owner of the Crep’ and Tea restaurant a few yards away on rue Saint Dominique in the upscale seventh district. “We are very honored.”

Ah, Paris in the summer!
I’ve read, elsewhere, that the President had roast lamb and the First Lady went for filet of beef. Apparently, there were five people in the little dining party, including Malia, so maybe, not quite a romantic dinner, but still, very, very lovely.

Yes, DDI – I also thought the same way – tax payer’s money and here comes in-laws, friends etc shopping and endless special dinners! Oops, wife is flying secretly London and I don’t have money just to go to city centre! Have they done shopping in London and Paris before the election? Was that How Abraham Linconln did?
Imelda Marcos of Philipine behaved the same pattern. On the other hand mom-in-chiefs have so much money to do shopping in Paris and then London and then where to? God knows!
