I don’t know who the posters are on this site, but many of you are exceptionally misinformed and don’t have a clue about Sophie Maxwell and the incredible contribution she’s made to District 10. District 10 encompasses not only Bayview Hunter’s Point, but Visitaction Valley, parts of the Excelsior, the Portola District and parts of Crocker Amazon. Having grown up in this neighborhood, I can state unequivocably that she among all district supervisors for this area has made the greatest contribution. Sophie Maxwell works hard and is an extremely busy and dedicated professional.
My impression is that Sophie was deliberately left out of knowing that there would be what I consider opportunistic and treacherous political showboating by Michelle Obama and Maria Shriver. Sophie works so hard and she has accomplished so much for this very frequently ignored and disparaged part of the City. She’s the hero, not Michelle Obama. It’s really sad that because Sophie isn’t a fashionista with ever so perfectly straightened hair, and lacking those so important biceps that she is disparaged and ignored. Shame on all of you.

Gina, this made me giggle! It sums up so well the foolishness that Ms. Maxwell is coming with.

You would have thought that she would have been happy to see a positive volunteering spotlight shone on her area. Instead, she’s peeved she didn’t know the First Lady was coming to volunteer, otherwise, uhh, she’d have volunteered herself?! Good gawd!

I guess I am a little bit protective of my city. We don’t have the best reputation as it is.

Oakland and San Francisco are two different places. Oakland is across the Bay from San Francisco. Different city, area codes and everything. San Francisco and Oakland do not share the same neighborhoods. It’s a huge bay in between us.

I live in Oakland and I wasn’t upset that she went to San Francisco to do volunteer work.
