Why Do The Obamas Want To Go To Martha’s Vineyard? and They are The Ones That Call Her Ghetto.

The Vineyard has long been one of the vacation spots of choice for upper-class Black families. (See, for example, the novels of Stephen Carter.) And they should know better than anyone else, because they’ve lived the experience, that education can catapult you from one socio-economic level to another.

Mrs. Obama didn’t grow up in a “ghetto” anyway. Her childhood neighborhood was a decent working-class area.

Well, wherever the President and his family choose to holiday, I hope that they have a relaxing, refreshing break in a locale with residents who are accepting, sensible and secure enough within themselves to feel no need to label The First Lady “ghetto”.

(I know it was just one single, solitary individual who was quoted in the article that first brought all of this “ghetto” nonsense out, but I suppose it goes to show that maybe one not-so-good apple can tarnish the whole bunch, in some respects!)

The only “tacky” people in Martha’s Vineyard are the uneducated bunch that chose to insult our extremely accomplished First Lady. She has more class and character in her little finger than they ever thought of.

I can only feel pity for them.

I am never surprised by the arrogance of Black folks who think they have money, power, and status. I bet those who made the cracks were members of the Brown Bag Club. All I can say is Michelle Obama is in the White House and they are envious, behaving like crabs in a barrel, busy trying to keep us down and back…things have changed so little. I bet they will be the first in line trying to get an invitation to be in their audience so they can later brag…pathetic! Not only do we have to deal with racism, but to also have to deal with haters from our own ethnic group makes me sad. So very sad!!!!

Hey she under lot of stress being the first lady, Who care were they take a break at .As long she does her job being a wife , a mother and surport her husband on what he says . Being the FIRST lady that a lot right there plus all the other is more. If they want to get way let them as long they are guarded .God bless them don’t let no harm done to our First family. I am so sick and tired of reading and seeing people bashing this family . I don’t care if Michelle Obama wears shorts 24/7 or even if the President wears blue jeans and t-shirt 24/7 as long as he is doing his job.I suppose everyone expects the children to wear prom dresses 24/7 too they are normal people just like you and I . I don’t think what they are wearing on vacation is anyones business, as for calling Michelle “GHETTO” I think you should check out your own wardrobe maybe your just a little or a lot ghetto too. Are you people telling me you don’t wear shorts in the summer? Come on…..Get real…..This is AMERICA!!!!

Michelle Obama is a Highly Educated Woman it is not the color you have to Judge, but the person. The whole world admire Michelle Obama and that is what counts.

Why don’t they stay home and work on the problems of the country. Seem that the Obamas are no different than other presidents…..the trappings of office cost more than the pending health care bill… !!!

Some commentor’s do have a point, The First Family do spend a lot of time outside of Washington DC, What have all the trips been since he was put in Office, the family has traveled with Obama, and there have been plenty of publicity about shopping trips, sightseeing. river rafting, etc. I would conclude a reasonable amount of these trips could and should be considered vacationing. (at the taxpayers expense, of course)
The President should spend some time in the Oval Office, and get down to doing the business of the Country, taking care of the immigration, and economic problems we all face. President Obama needs to start earning his wages.

It is mean and vicious, demeaning the Obama family in any way. They are OUR family, MY family, YOUR family. Now how much closer than that do we get. I love them and pray for them every day to stay well, at peace with themselves and SAFE. Praise God that they are at Martha’s Vineyard. I hope thay receive many more blessings than that. I pray that the President becomes a wonderful President of this great Country. If he pleases us or not. We are so spoiled with all our freedoms that we have become entitled. All of us can’t be right nor are all of us wrong. These freedoms we’ve been blessed with, have numbed our hearts to be mean-spirited. Have fun, FIRST FAMILY! God bless you! Oh, by-the-way–I did not vote for President Obama. He is my President.

Michelle Obama is so much more superior than any of the racist Americans who call her these types of names. It shouldn’t even be re-printed. Mrs. Obama, as does her family, exudes grace, compassion, style, intelligence and wisdom far beyond her years. I just wish I could say that about all Americans. Could you just, for once, put away your ignorant hatreds and let this family have the respect and support they deserve.
As to why they are taking a vacation, that is ridiculous. Do you have any idea as to the pressures of the Office? Do you think our President is not in touch with every cabinet member each and every minute he’s away from the White House? Do you think he’s not entitled to have time with his family? Do you think he should put up with all the hate and bigotry this Country has to offer and not have some time to just regroup? Why don’t you look at your own lives and try to improve them and let this man, his wife and their family take care of themselves.

I really usually refrain from responding to comments made by my “lessers”. but this phrase “dog sitters” is just too much. My prayers go out to you and those you are modelling inappropriate behavior for. Please take this as I write it, you are an ignorant, insensitve individual and if you ever had the resources to visit a spot like Martha’s Vineyard, the people who look like you (and I would venture to say, those that think like you) would not embrace you beause they recognize your ignorance and would not wish to be linked to you. You are a racist, a bigot and an poor excuse for an American, or maybe you just write this garbage to incite others. Whatever, try to control yourself.

To those individuals that voted only because of color and not because of experience and knowledge – you got what you voted for, an empty suit. When an empty suit takes a vacation they do it on our tax dollars! This I resent when people don’t have any income at all, are trying to survive at the worst unemployment in the history of the USA, factories closing, jobs disappearing, people not getting enough to eat or feed their families, then I can’t be too happy about a family that has to take a vacation on those hard earned dollars that have now disappeared, and you think I’m supposed to be happy about it? No, I’m not, and if you weren’t such idiots (please, learn the English language), you would see what I mean! I live in Illinois and saw and experience daily the stupidity of what this so called prez did to this state, and now the country? When you know what you are talking about instead of feeling you’ve accomplished something because a empty suit of color made it this time to that office, (but I’ll bet you it will be the last one), and see what an inexperienced, lack of capability or knowledge, know how, and if you listened to any of the talk radio programs you would see he has fallen to less than 35% approval, lower than BUSH, then you take issue with me, BUt, in spite of all of you, I’ll have the last laugh at YOU!!! Just watch him go down the tubes!!! So, what’s wrong with dog sitter? Did you volunteer for that job? Ha!

I cannot believe someone had the nerve to say something so insulting about Michelle Obama, about her being Ghetto. At least our first lady is not being pretentious. You must be a racist, a bigot and a poor excuse for an American to even say such a thing. The Obamas certainly deserve a much needed vacation as President Obama has done more for the country in eight months as a President than Brush did in eight years. Remember President Obama is cleaning up the mess of the previous President. President Obama didn’t make the mess that the country is in now but he is certainly trying to clean up the mess.

Whoever person, that referred to Mrs, Obama as ghetto, remember your comment means nothing as you are nobody special and your negative comment is irrelevant. Michelle Obama is in the White House and the envious people and the ones making all the nasty comments are not, you are so pathetic and ignorant. So keep your nasty comments to yourself because they mean nothing.

I do agree that the article is a bit ignorant, but I agree with TAG on how Obama is taking to many vacations especially during a big issue as Universal Health Care. The job needs to be done before traveling, it comes with the job of representing the United States of America.

With that being said, I do agree that being under the public eye is hard but that is the representation of America. I absolutely do not want to be represented by a family in slacks, giving the impression of a laid back president. Not a single family that I have seen that was in the White House has ever been dressed and given so much slack on how one has acted like the Special Olympic comment or the comment of police not doing their job incident.

It’s truly an HONOR to utter her name. Her genuineness is not comparable to some of the ordinary people. Its a waste of my time to say anything about some of the ill-minded and the ordinary but
to those who try to insult Mrs. Obama, Your insult and your breath is wasted…your words will never be touched by her nor the whole world.

What this country needs to understand is that she deserves to be respected has the First Lady. People need to think before they open their mouths. This lady is a class act . She’s an excellent mother, awesome wife, business woman, and beautiful woman. Please allow her to be the First Lady because she definitely has earned it. And if she doesn’t want to carry a purse that’s her business, too. Because this lady is fair from GHETTO. Please feel free to define the word Ghetto. I know that the First Lady Michelle Obama picture is definitely not next to it or affiliated with that type of disrespect. Treat her like royalty because she is.

I take a few weeks away from the computer, and I see that once again all manner of Terminally Disgruntled have come to the forefront…!

First of all, I’m assuming that some of the people posting here have absolutely no idea of the impression of themselves that they are giving. No one says that anyone has to agree with everything that the President, and the First Lady do and say, but I find myself wondering why some people feel such a need to show such malice, bile, and rancour in their posts.

Right now, I’ll just deal with one of you….

Connie, for what it’s worth, this citizen of the world can report back with full confidence that “the entire family” has been behaving and representing Americans – not least, when abroad – in an exemplary manner. It’s a shame that you don’t appear to have noticed. Not been keeping up with the news, then….?

Secondly, what have you got against cleaning ladies, anyway? Your comment is utterly insulting. There are plenty of decent, honest, respectable cleaning ladies performing valuable services and work in their communities. A person doesn’t have to be a professional before they’re a person of worth! I know what you were trying to say, and it is so tiresome to me when someone tries to show their disapproval of the First Lady by comparing her to the maid/the cleaning woman. This is just so ignorant!

I’m sure if you made an effort, were genuinely interested, and did a little research you’d find out plenty about what the President has accomplished over the last 8 months, and the ground work being laid for acomplishments in the future.
