First Lady Michelle Obama has topped the Vanity Fair 70th Annual International Best-Dressed List.  This year marks the third time that the First Lady has made the list. According to Amy Fine Collins, special corespondent for Vanity Fair, Mrs O got more votes than anyone else on this year’s list. Collins stated that Michelle O has “brought the dress back and turned the world into her runway…” Vanity Fair gives kudos to the First Lady for the notable ensembles she wore to the Inauguration festivities and the black  Moschino organza top and silk veil she wore to the Vatican to meet Pope Benedict XVI.

Mrs Obama is joined on the list by her husband, The Commander-In-Chief, and fellow First Lady of France, Carla Bruni-Sarkozy. To view a slide show of the entire list click here.

    she’s awesome!

  2. I am really enjoying the attention that our First Lady brings to us regarding appearance. I look forward to the many of us paying more attention to how we represent ourselves and our family, friends and community.
    Respectfully

  3. Thanks for keeping up with things Aminah! This totally rocks.

I don’t like everything Michelle wears but I LOVE the fact that no matter what it is she rocks it and doesn’t care what people think about it.

OOh Look @ Ms.First Lady Michelle you Go Girl.

  6. She’s so regal and just a “classy” lady…but we think First Dog Bo should top the list for “best dressed dog” as he already has a built in bib and socks..lol!

  7. Skye

I have not seen the top photo in the blue gown. Where was this taken?

@GEM2001 Thanks for the shout out.

@SKYE This photo appeared in the Vogue January 2009 issue. It is one of my favorite First Lady photos.

  9. facebook share???

I want to share my Michelle O style obsession with my facebook friends. Where is the link?

  10. Hay Pepper, I agree, I don’t like everything she wears, but what I do like is, she is going to wear what she likes. Because it’s not always about what she wears, it’s about what kind of person she is. And she seems to be a lovely, down to earth, friendly person, a good wife, good mother and good daugther and that impress me more than what she wears. So proud of my First Lady. And since his polling is going down slightly, I want to give my President a little love, proud of you too Mr. Prez. You walked into an major crisis, and you have been working hard to get this country back on the right track. It will take so time, but I believe you will get us there.

Thoughtful remarks, Darton. It’s nice to be reminded that we value these people for qualities and achievements more intrinsic and remarkable than their fashion choices, good or bad.

At 54 years of age I think M.O. carries herself strong & tall..she is a role model for many women who visualizes, focus, & self disciplines themself to pursue their goals…she wears what she wants, when she wants, doesn’t give a hoot what people say or think about her style choices…she wears many hats for a variety of roles…she has a positive self esteem & confidence which in today’s society & culture is worth a million plus!

I hope that Mrs. Obama will change the official White House portrait and wear a dress with sleeves !!!!!! I also do not think her arms are as beautiful as some people say— I THINK they look like a wrestlers arms !!!!!!! I am not a black woman—so I have no idea WHY they [ black women ] obsess about the texture, etc of their hair. And APPARENTLY spend so much money to get it straightened—in order to have it look like a caucasion woman’s hair !!!!!!

Darling Ruth does it occur to u nobody gives a rats a.. what you think about about Michelles arms or hair.Im pretty sure her man thinks shes lovely in whatever shes wearing or whatever hairdo shes rocking,as do millions and millions of others at home and abroad

“Ruth Smalldon”…your name says it all. Your statement sounds like the words of a small town gal living in a small town world and if that’s the case, I’ll give you a “I don’t know any better” pass for today. If not, you should be ashamed of yourself! Why should Mrs. O wear a dress with sleeves? What would that do for you as a woman? In what way is it offensive or harmful to our country? Or the women in our country? She is a beautiful, strong, young and fit first lady and you should be proud to see someone as vibrant, youthful, classy, and educated as Mrs. O in the White House for a change. The closest we ever came to someone with such intelligence and class was the former first lady Mrs. Clinton. A wrestler’s arms? Perhaps you’d prefer someone with saggy baggy arms who had no choice but to cover up. Have you ever heard of cardio? Or toning? It’s what women and men do to keep their body’s from becoming something they feel the need to cover up. And finally, the hair thing. You don’t sound like you know much about hair and getting it done, so let me school you on a couple of things. First off, the hair business, whether for African Americans or Caucasians, is an extremely lucrative business. Don’t be so naive to think that white women don’t spend just as much or even more on their hair as black women do. Black woman have the versatility (that means options) to wear their hair naturally, straight, or even with a weave, piece or wig. It’s called style! You know? As in, I’m going to wear my hair this way to go with this outfit and switch it up that way tomorrow. Please don’t confuse that with African American women trying to have hair like Caucasian women. How ignorant a statement is that? Oops, I forgot who I’m asking. In this new day and age, you shouldn’t hate, just congratulate. Have a nice day.

Mrs. Michelle Obama is absolutely beautiful! Not only in her classy but subtle way of dressing, but just being real and not to mention she is smart. I am so proud to see her be the first lady and represent our county with such class! WOW

  17. Well Ms. Ruth Smalldon……as soon as I can figure out why caucasion people stay in the sun baking themselves, or stay in some tanning booth, I will be able to answer your questions about the straighten hair. The First Lady arms look great. If mines looked like that, I would go sleeveless any darn time I wanted too. The White House protrait is just fine. She don’t need to change a thing. I guess a Barbara Bush two piece suit would suit you. Not me. No way. No how. I love the fact that the First Lady is being true to herself. Not trying to be Jackie O, but Michelle Obama.
