Today will be a busy day for First Lady Michelle Obama. This morning she will visit Hollin Meadows Elementary School in Alexandria, Virginia to highlight the USDA’s Healthier US Schools Challenge. According to the White House Press Office, the Healthier US Schools Challenge focuses on three core principles: nutritious meals, nutrition education, and physical education. The First Lady will visit the elementary schools cafeteria and garden – two elements that supported the school’s success in becoming a USDA Healthier School.
In the afternoon, the First Lady, will host a gathering at the White House for veterans from the World War II, women currently serving in the military, and wounded warriors. Mrs Obama will be joined by Dr. Jill Biden, Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano, Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General James Cartwright, members of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and their wives, and other senior military and administration officials.
