Just wanted to take a moment to welcome our new readers from across the pond. Michelle Obama Watch has been added to the Intute research database. Intute is a free UK based, online service that provides access to Web resources for education and research. MOW was chosen by a network of subject specialists that are sponsored by an association of UK universities and partners that includes the University of Birmingham, University of Bristol, Heriot-Watt University, The University of Manchester, Manchester Metropolitan University, University of Nottingham, and the University of Oxford.
Intute was launched on July 13, 2006. It began as a grass roots community of information professionals working on individual projects. After years of development Intute has evolved into a fully integrated and nationally used UK online research service. Intute is student focused, rooted in the universities’ curriculum, and dedicated to helping students develop Internet research skills.

I would like to thank the founder of MOW, one of the Queens of new digital media, Gina McCauley, for her vision and creating this space to give a voice to women who’s voices were being ignored. Michelle Obama is one of the most highly profiled First Ladies in American history and thanks to Ms Gina everyday women have also become a part of that history. Thank you for giving us a place to tell our story, our way.

OH Thank you Aminah, I needed to hear that. I ran into some elitist snobs this morning that made me want to retreat into my own little world. Yes, they were some of US!
This reminded me why I started blogging, for those of us who are ordinary, everyday women to have a voice. That irritates the Black Elite Establishment something awful!
Have a great day and Happy Nanowrimo!

@ADMIN You’re welcome very much. Yes, the self-proclaimed Talented Tenth can sometimes be a handful, but they will be OK. Isn’t this what we’ve been fighting for, a level playing field where everyone has a voice? That’s why I love love love Michelle Obama. She is shattering myths everyday and the rest of the old guard will just have to play catch-up.
Happy NaNaWriMo!!!

You see what happens haters, you see ?
You trail around the internet looking for somewhere to spew your hate and poison whilst the person that you are directing your hate towards becomes better and stronger. Michelle has already surpassed Jackie O for the most stylish First Lady. I could never see what the fuss was about with those old fashioned Valentino gowns and overpriced Chanel suits that we regular folk couldn’t afford. Bit now, she is making leaps and bounds in areras that not even Eleanor Roosevelt touched in her first year as a first lady.
Michelle, I salute you. We Brits have mad love for you.

BC, my fellow Brit, I’m not sure where in the country you are, but you may have read today about the survey carried out by GirlGuiding UK for its centenary celebrations.
Over a thousand, girls and young women aged between 7 and 21 were questioned on their attitudes to a range of health and social issues.
I was delighted to note that in London, the First Lady was voted overwhelmingly as the best role model with over 30% expressing their admiration for her.
It’s wonderful stuff, isn’t it! I almost – but, not quite – feel sorry for the detractors!
