One year ago today Senator Barack Obama was elected the 44th President of the United States and Michelle Obama became our First Lady. Ten months later it is clear that Mrs O is in a class of her own, as she continues to make enormous strides from the East Wing, setting the bar higher and higher for her successors.
I know we do this every day on Michelle Obama Watch, but in the name of nostalgia, let’s take a look back and share what Michelle means to you. Remember the first time you saw her speak on the campaign trail? How the crowds grew from a few to standing room only. How in the midst of attacks she was able, with the help of some very resourceful women, to shake the haters off. The feelings you felt standing in Grant Park on that unseasonably warm Chicago night one year ago today or on that freezing Mall in January, as you saw Michelle Obama take the stage with her family.
To take us back down memory lane I’ve compiled a few of my favorite campaign moments and photos. Please feel free to share your own. Let us know what your wishes are for the First Lady and the East Wing as we prepare for another year of Michelle Obama Watching.

I remember that New Hampshire race when she hugged her man. I remember that and then the fist bump. Only to be outdone by the hula hoop. She totally rocks Let me go.

One of my favorite moments was the fist bump. I remember crying through her entire DNC speech. And of course there was Sasha at the end of the Speech talking to her daddy. Priceless.

It’s been a year already? Time flies. Didn’t someone call the fist bump that they gave a terrorist bump? Crazy people. It’s nice to see all of the vids and pics of them.
Queen Rania of Jordan once said being a Queen isn’t who you are it’s what u do. I don’t know what goes into being a FL nor working in the East Wing so my wishes for the Fl and the East Wing would be to be happy and do whatever it is that you’ll enjoy. Don’t give in to pressure NO MATTER WHERE IT MAY COME FROM. Some may like what they do some may not but what people haft to understand is the FL role is a traditional role. Traditions can be broken and she could be behind those white house walls caring for her children and not make any appearances nor have a mentoring program if she didn’t want to.
If i was a Queen or FL…well I think i’m too honest to be in those type of roles.

i still can’t believe that we have a black 1st family! i love michelle and barack’s PDA. they let everyone know that they have each other’s back. their relationship was needed to be seen by our community. we needed to see that there are functioning african american families that exist beyond the “Cosby Show” !
