The HBO documentary, By The People The Election of Barack Obama, highlights behind the scenes footage of the First Family on the campaign trail. Filmmakers Amy Rice and Alicia Sams began filming, then Senator Obama, one year before he announced his campaign for presidency. Their initial premise was to “examine the political experience of a promising young politician.”
While the reviews are mixed, I’m looking forward to seeing the never before seen footage of the First Lady and weeMichelles. The documentary also highlights campaign workers and volunteers. So far neither I, nor anyone that I know is in the film. Oh well maybe in 2012.
By The People The Election of Barack Obama airs Tuesday, November 3 on HBO at 9pm ET.

I’m thinking about attending a watch party here in Chicago. That’s an option if you don’t have cable.

This had to be one of the most unmoving, unfeeling documentaries I’ve ever seen. It tried really hard, showing a host of campaign workers breaking down crying, but it just didn’t do it for me.
The footage of the First Ladies and weeMichelle was cute, but it couldn’t carry the rest of the 1 1/2 hours of boredom.
The Axelrod footage was OK.
I give it 1 star. Better luck in 2012.
