First Lady Michelle Obama has been making the media rounds to introduce America to her new initiative to fight childhood obesity. This morning she was on the Tom Joyner Morning Show to discuss Let’s Move and Good Morning America and Larry King Live yesterday.
I’m excited about the new initiative and anticipating to see how communities around the country come together not just to make children more healthy, but adults as well.

I agree with the First Lady Michelle Obama about Childhood Obesity.
I work at Minton’s Sportslex, Health and Wellness Preschool with After School Care Program as a Fitness Specialist.
Our Focus at Minton’s Sportsplex is to teach Healthy eating and active lifestyle to children age 4 to 13 years old, we also teach the kids of the Preschool and After School care program to create a healthy habits that will last for lifetime. Not only will the children learn the basics of healthy eating they will learn about the benefits of exercise at a younger age.We also have weekly fitness classes fo the kids from 4 to 13 years old.
I think in my opinion kids need more time out side then inside with video games.

I’m watching with interest to see how this worthwhile and right-on-time initiative flourishes.
Regardless of political stripes, and personal opinions, there can’t be many who’d disagree that working to improve the health and wellbeing of our children isn’t of value. Those children are of course the adults of tomorrow, and much of what they learn now will be taken forward into their futures as grown-ups.
I’m with you A.; I’m rooting for the First Lady one hundred percent too and, also for those groups and individuals who are playing their part.
It seems that every week, there’s some piece of news that brings home what this is all about; just today I found myself looking at something about the ins-and-outs of possibly adapting weight-loss key hole surgery for under 16s. The other day there was something about a weight loss camp, taking in 8 little 4 year-olds for the first time.
It wasn’t that long ago, that it would have been absolutely unthinkable that this would be happening in Britain. Childhood obesity was something that we were accustomed to seeing in programmes imported from the U.S. And yet, in no time at all, here we are, grappling with the exact same issue….
