This week the Today Show aired a series of exclusive interviews with First Lady Michelle Obama. In the interviews the First Lady discussed the impact of the Executive Office on the Obama marriage and family, living under the scrutiny of the spotlight, her Childhood Obesity Initiative, her thoughts on being the First Lady, and how she’s “having a ball.”
The blogosphere is all a buzz about Mrs Obama’s comments about the weeMichelles. I am sure that there will be many more remarks in the days leading up to the launch of her Childhood Obesity Initiative. Did she say too much? Was it appropriate? Only time will tell. I’m excited about the upcoming initiative and I hope that it will bring about healthy lifestyles changes, not only in children, but in the lives of adults as well.
Have a great weekend MOWatchers!

Michelle Obama rocks! This first lady can do no wrong as far as I’m concerned.
Touching on an experience she had as a doting mum who needed an awakening from a keen eyed pediatrician with other parents to drive home a point is not sharing too much in my opinion.
If she had not made reference to her personal experience the same folks would be still be screaming red-faced only this time it would be “how dare she lecture us as if her own kids were perfect and ours aren’t.”
Simply put, President & Mrs Obama can’t please the spiteful, vicious naysayers no matter what they do or how hard they try – so why bother??

@CE No one said she did anything wrong. The concerns are that as someone who might not have had an eating disorder or who is taking counsel exclusively from physicians, she might not be aware or may not have incorporated a body of knowledge from people with legitimate concerns and specialization in body image issues. Afterall the focus is on childhood obesity, not Mrs. obama. If you listened to her Today Show interview, she indicated that she wants to be helpful.
