The first lady is the muse of an upcoming book by fashion editor Mandi Norwood. Michelle Style: Celebrating the First Lady of Fashion will hit the stands on May 5. Leah Chernikoff of the Daily News profiled the new book in a recent article:

Now it appears that fashion designer, Arnold Scaasi has an issue with the First Lady's fashion choices. As reported by WWD.com in an article called "Arnold Scaasi's Front Row View on First Ladies", Mr. Scassi feels something is "amiss."
Read the quote by Scaasi provided on WWD.com,
"She’s great-looking, she has a great personality and she’s obviously very bright,” he stressed. “But…” Scaasi finished the dreaded qualifier with, “something is amiss.”
In this article, Scaasi goes on to comment about Mrs. Obama's ensemble when ... Read More

Move on over Jason Wu, the First Lady apparently went with a French Designer tonight when she was at the NATO working dinner. (Did I mention I really don't care, but I know that y'all do). Here is a blip from the New York Times. I can't say anything snarky about the Times for the next 7 days... by request ( No, I'm serious about that :)):
Breaking the tradition of American first ladies typically, though not exclusively, wearing American fashion, Michelle Obama ... Read More

The April 2009 issue of More magazine will feature an article written by Susan Swimmer about one of Michelle Obama’s favorite designers, Maria Pinto. More magazine previously featured Mrs.Obama on their October 2008 cover. The article, dubbed, “Secret’s of Michelle Obama’s Style” should be a worthwhile read, because who better to shed light on Mrs.Obama striking sense of style than the designer who was responsible for many of her stunning ensembles, like the fabulous red dress worn at the first ... Fox News reports that the March issue of Vogue will showcase our First Lady. The article mentions that Michelle is so sure of her sense of style that she chose her own wardrobe for the shoot. She will don a magenta silk sheath dress by Jason Wu, who also designed her inaugural gown. The editor-at-large, Andre Leon Talley, had this to say,
"She doesn't need any help. She loves fashion and knows what works for her," Vogue's editor at large Andre Leon Talley said. "She's ... Read More

Clearly they want more attention from us. To all those who poo pooed and told us that there wasn't anything to the Huffington Post's repeated use of "sassy" to describe Sasha Obama, WE TOLD YOU SO. They are at it again, this time on their 23/6 "comedy" site.I guess a well behaved little Black girl doesn't fit nicely into their acceptable Black girl images box, so they had to make things up.
Sasha Obama didn't tell anybody off. The youngest first daughter is ... Read More

Despite some of the scathing criticism of First Lady (SQUEE!) Michelle Obama's inaugural fashions in the comments section :(, that's not stopping the fashion industry from continuing the age old tradition of swiftly cranking out fashion knock offs. The New York Daily News printed an article titled" Fashion's copycats are having a ball knocking off Michelle Obama's gown"
Michelle had barely danced at her first ball as First Lady by the time designers at the Manhattan-based Faviana had drawn up sketches for ... Read More

Here is a better photo of Michelle Obama's Inaugural gown from the LA Times.
Let me tell you how dedicated I am. I had to endure the dreadful telecast of the "Neighborhood Ball" to get the first glimpse of Michelle Obama's ball gown. It is a one shoulder number that appears to be made of white or ivory. My eyes are bad. It looks like it has feathers and sequins. Her hair is down and she has on a bracelet. I'll get photos ...
