Today in a stunning ceremony at the Smithsonian Museum of American History, First Lady Michelle Obama donated her fabulous inaugural gown to the institution. The gown was worn to the ten inaugural balls held in Washington, D.C. on that bitterly cold night in January. Yesterday First Lady Michelle Obama celebrated the 106th birthday of famed children's author Dr Seuss at the National Education Association's (NEA) 2010 Read Across America Day. Mrs Obama was joined by Secretary of Education Arne Duncan and NEA President Dennis Van Roekel. Read Across America Day's goal is to spread the importance of reading and education. In honor of Dr Seuss the First Lady read The Cat In The Hat and then took questions from the children in the audience with the Education Secretary.

Today First Lady Michelle Obama met with students from the London borough of Islington in the Old Dining Room of the White House. The 10 lucky students were awarded with a trip to the United States, courtesy of the US Embassy in London, as a prize for wining a Black History Month essay competition. First Lady Michelle Obama continued her commitment to military families yesterday when she spoke at the Joint Armed Forces Officers' Wives' Luncheon yesterday at Bolling Air Force Base in Washington, DC. In her remarks the First Lady announced that the President's 2011 budget will include a record $8.8 billion for military family support programs.

First Lady Michelle Obama resumed her visits to federal agencies to thank employees this morning when she stopped by the Department of Labor. She even made time to stop by a day care center to read Dr Seuss' Green Eggs & Ham.

For those of you that have been asking, "Where are the weeMichelles?" Here they are! The First Lady, weeMichelles, and First Dog Bo visited the Children's National Medical Center this afternoon continuing a tradition that began with First Lady Bess Truman. They visited with children in the medical center in a reception that was closed to the press. After the closed meeting they stayed behind to read a book and take questions. You just gotta love this family.
