Apparently Cal Thomas of Fox news feels he is an expert on the feelings of African American Women. The Huffington Post has a post about the latest statements of the Fox news pundit. Go here for the video
In addition, here is a snippet of the transcript of the show from Fox News:
THOMAS: I want to pick up on something that Jane said about the angry black woman. Look at the image of angry black women on television. Politically you have Maxine Waters of California, liberal Democrat. She’s always angry every time she gets on television. Cynthia McKinney, another angry black woman. And who are the black women you see on the local news at night in cities all over the country. They’re usually angry about something. They’ve had a son who has been shot in a drive-by shooting. They are angry at Bush. So you don’t really have a profile of non-angry black women. Read more here.

This is outrageous but eye opening that this is how some people really view ALL black women (except for Oprah). Someone on Fuax News is going to drop the N bomb before this is over.

Well things are going to heat up and Michelle had better be ready. Frankly I am still waiting for the millions of Hillary supports to be outraged over the sexism that is being directed to Michelle and Cindy. Damn

Marketing Diva,
Hillary supporters will take up for Cindy before even considering the treatment leveled at Michelle.
Fux News is something special. I don’t understand the popularity of filtered news. I guess Americans are allergic to honest journalism.

Ironically, if someone said this on Fox, then they just might have gotten something right for once. To quote Ani Difranco, “If you’re not angry, then you’re just stupid, you don’t care. How else can you react when you know something’s so unfair?”
I can’t imagine why any woman in America wouldn’t be up in arms about the state of our nation today, black or otherwise.

What is the context of this quote? There is no link to a story or video… just a disembodied headline. Give us the full story, please.

UPDATE: Here is the information from the Huffington Post with a video.
I saw this last night on Dan Abrams. I’ve not been able to find a transcript or video of the encounter yet. Abrams played a video clip of Cal Thomas a Fox pundit making a statement about “angry” black women, Michelle Obama, Maxine Waters, Cynthia McKinney and local black female broadcasters, characterizing them as “angry”. If we can find the clip, perhaps Fox will have to issue yet a third NONapology in 2 weeks.

I’m not an angry Black woman. I am however, a baffled Black woman. Why is it that when Blacks, especially, Black women are profiled as celebrities, or widely recognized, or who are well-publicized, called hate names? Are we to stay in the box? Well, the day has come when we are out of the box, we are renowned, and inflammatory words will no longer hurt us, we have endured so much that it’s just another move. Mrs. Michelle Obama, keep your head up, for you are somebody to be recoginzed, you are a REAL WOMAN. My prayers are with you and your family.

I submit that most of America has never seen and/or experienced a truly Angry Black Woman. I also submit that no one wants to either see or experience an Angry Black Woman! They really don’t even have a clue!

How many angry black women have national radio shows where they always make negative remarks about anyone who is not an angry white male. I believe the term may be transference. Bill o’reilly, Rush,Michael savage,Don imus. It’s called competence and security guys, you know when a woman feels that she can be a strong black woman, and mother and still love and have the love and respect of her husband. Obama appears to know that having a strong woman doesn’t make him weaker. You should try it.

thanks for posting this. i recently wrote an article at about this at a Campus Progress’ Pushback:
http://www.pushback.org/2008/06/19/the-comfort-and-convenience/
it’s a sad state of affairs when the media passes off black women’s fight for their communities and their families as us just being “angry” for no reason. hope you take the time to read and comment on my article.
