It’s been confirmed the Sen. Barack Obama will appear as himself on the Saturday Night Live’s 34th season premiere.
Rumor has it that Tina Fey is in talks to portray Alaska governor/Republican VP pick/Fey doppleganger, Sarah Palin.
And to play Michelle Obama? Lorne Michaels is reportedly looking to bring back Maya Rudolph.
Here’s to hoping they get Maya, or *gasp* that they discover and add a funny young Black female comedian to the line-up. Because while Fred Armisen (who is Latino and Asian) might be able to “get away” with playing Barack (and just barely in some circles, and not at all in others), I don’t think Kristen Wiig in blackface to play Michelle would go over too well.

OH my lord. Why do they need someone to play Michelle at all. They didn’t have a Tereza Kerry clone or a Tipper Gore Clone did they? They will mess it up. They shouldn’t even bother to try.

I think they did do Teresa Kerry..and I know they did Chelsea Clinton in a particularly nasty way…….I guess they have no actual boundaries.

I think the fact that SNL hasn’t been able to recruit anyone Black to portray these roles is noteworthy.

Michelle Obama should play herself. I mean, barack has already gone on Saturday night live. Its the ultimate way to show beer chugging white America that you’re one of them.
